dr. Dražen Poje
D. Sc. Dražen Poje was born in Zagreb on 12 March 1924, where he graduated high school and the Faculty of mathematics and natural sciences and got his degree of doctor of science with the thesis Main weather types in Yugoslavia and their dependence of upper air circulation. After short work as a professor at the teacher-training college in Pakrac, from the year 1952 until his retirement in 1989 his was active in Hydrometeorological institute of Republic of Croatia in Zagreb. In this institute he hold different leading positions in the Aerological and synoptical division and from 1969 as the chief of Centre for meteorological research. In 1963 he was on specialisation in the Meteorological institute of the Free university of West Berlin. He lectured Synoptic meteorology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the Zagreb University and Cloud physics at Master-degree study in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
In Hydrometeorlogical institute Poje took active part in the realisation of numerous report and feasibility studies in different branches of meteorology for economy and in scientific research projects and participated at several scientific symposia at home and abroad. He published more than 100 scientific and expert papers in different parts of meteorology in domestic and foreign publications and lately he is very active in the research project Multilingual glossary of meteorological terms. He also wrote several articles on Meteorology and hydrology on postage stamps in domestic and foreign journals.
